The journey of an Indian onion

I buy at least a pound of onions every week from grocery store (in USA)...Over the last six years, never did I see the price fluctuating as much as it did in my home country (INDIA).

What's the reason?

During the FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) debate (in 2012), my research showed that investment by large supermarket chains can help stabilize the prices of vegetables in India.

Retail chains will remove middlemen, eliminate wastage and shortages, ensure stable prices and help farmers and consumers. Let us shed fears and welcome FDI in the retail sector.

If not Foreign, at least encourage someone in India do set up such retail chain.

Indian retail / Foreign retail, I don't care. Consumers don't care. They just need stable prices.
As Deng Xiaoping once saidIt doesn't matter whether a cat is white or black, as long as it catches mice.

The benefits of big supermarket chains are again very evident & can be easily felt by reading the article below from economist.

Be the Change

The following is inscribed on the tomb of an Anglican Bishop in Westminster Abby (1100 A.D.) …

When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world.

As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country.

But it, too, seemed immovable.

As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.

And now, as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize: If I had only changed myself first, then by example I would have changed my family.

From their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to better my country, and who knows, I may have even changed the world.

In search of Success

To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;

to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.

This is to have succeeded.
